Don't know about the 300 engine, but the 4.2 had good acceleration. However, the panel work of my XC falcon was prone to rusting profusely.

The ford "barra" was a worthy end to the inline 6 era. Up to 900 hp out of a stock bottom end.

You know honestly the best part about these new electric and hybrid vehicles is that in the US we use CAFE and total vehicle roster mpg as metrics the manufacturers must meet. While this sounds bad; it means manufacturers who develop and sell electric and hybrid vehicles can also develop and sell less efficient vehicles thatre more fun.

I know its a 4 banger but i cant kill my 33 year old ranger. Ignition went, shifter column went.... she wont start until you take her out of park and into neutral, no ac or heat. Radio still jams tho so its still good.

That 300 six, square bore & stroke, was the best Ford engine I've ever known. "Bullet-proof"! 👍

In 1977 I bought a brand new Ford F-150 with 300 straight 6 manual transmission on the floor. I should have never sold that truck. It'd probably still be alive today. Never had one minute problem with that thing. It was perfect. Put 100,000 mi on it. Sold it. Big mistake
